Michael Jackson in Talks for a Las Vegas Show
14-Jun-2008
Written by: Marshall Burns

Jackson may possibly do a Las Vegas show to pay off some of his increasing debts.

Michael Jackson’s career isn’t quite dead yet. The singer plans to throw some life into it by doing an act in Las Vegas in order to keep his Neverland Ranch in California, reported Reuters. The equity group that bought the loan on the ranch is having him do the performance to avert foreclosure.

Colony Capital is the investment firm that’s talking with Jackson about the options to repay his $23 million debt. He may also become one of the many resident performers in Vegas in either a nightclub or a casino, reported Reuters.

No deal has been put in place quite yet for a gig for the pop star in Las Vegas, it is just one of the ideas that have been suggested by the firm to find loan payment scenarios. The spokesman of Colony Capital told Reuters that the company had no further comments on the matter and that Jackson’s own spokeswoman was unavailable for comment.

Since being acquitted in June of 2005, the pop star has been a recluse and has moved to three different locations since, according to Reuters. He currently lives in Pahrump, Nevada with his three children, about 60 miles away from Las Vegas. The company, though delaying the payment of his debt, is urging him to find new sources of income and to appear on a talk show in order to put the controversy behind him, as well as prove that he can still sing and dance, reported Reuters.
