Joel Wants Nicole to Find Faith

There appears to be some trouble brewing in the household of couple Joel Madden and Nicole Richie! Although they have a four-month-old daughter, Harlow Winter, marriage most likely is not in their immediate future due to differences in religion. According to Entertainmentwise, Madden refuses to marry Richie until she becomes a Christian. "As much as Joel loves Nicole he feels their marriage would never work unless they are on the same page with their religious beliefs. Bottom line, he wants a Christian family," a source tells the National Enquirer.

Because the rocker made a routine of going to church when he was younger, he "believes God has made him who he is today," and wants their daughter to grow up the same way.

"Joel may look like a rebel rocker, but he is an old-fashioned conservative with hardcore Christian beliefs. The Bible is a big part of his life, so much so that he has a tattoo of Jesus and a Sacred Heart on his arm."

"Joel is determined not to marry Nicole until she asks for forgiveness for her sins and is willing to raise Harlow with the same religious upbringing he had," the source continues.
