Lack of support in Florida, Ohio not a concern to Obama

Democrats campaign confidently despite potential losses in key states

It is no secret that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama struggled in the primary stage of his campaign in both Florida and Ohio, though neither Democratic candidates decided to campaign in Florida due to the punishment the state received for participating sooner than its scheduled date.

Florida and Ohio possess 47 total electoral votes in the upcoming general election, 27 and 20 respectively.

Obama’s opponent in the Democratic primaries, Hillary Clinton, won decisively in Ohio.

However, the Associated Press is reporting that the campaign manager for Obama, David Plouffe, gave a speech in Washington that explained how the Democratic candidate would be able to receive the required number of electoral votes in order to win the upcoming general election despite a potential lack of support in Ohio and Florida.

Plouffe insisted that despite the fact that Florida and Ohio promise to be potential obstacles, Obama intends to campaign heavily in both states in order to attempt to gain support.

"You have a lot of ways to get to 270. Our goal is not to be reliant on one state on November 4th," Plouffe told those in attendance at the Washington brewery where he gave his speech.
