Coldplay Might Have a #1 Hit This Weekend
NME.com reports that the midweek charts have "Viva La Vida" listed in the top spot, and if it could remain there until this weekend comes and is over, then Coldplay will have their first #1 hit.
Also, they have a great chance of having two top ten hits, the other being "Violet Hill," which just rose from #12 to #10 on the charts. Both tracks come off of their fourth album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, which was released last week on June 12.
Unfortunately, it is only 2,000 sales away from the number 8 slot, Chris Brown's Forever. This makes it very hard for Coldplay to retain the top spot, especially since "Viva La Vida" was only eligible for the charts when the album was released; the free download cannot be counted.
Also, Coldplay had been accused of taking "Viva La Vida" from an unsigned, and probably unknown, American band after hearing it at a gig; however, it was found out that the song was written before the gig and Chris Martin had never seen the gig because he was not on this side of the ocean.
