Pharrell Wants to Produce The Strokes Next Album
After more than a two year layoff, The Strokes have begun discussing their fourth album (a follow-up to the well-received First Impressions of Earth). And Pharrell Williams would like to be a part of the discussion.
The super-producer told NME that he is interested in producing the next album for the New York City rockers, revealing to NME that he has already discussed the possibility with The Strokes' frontman, Julian Casablancas, while working on their collaboration for "My Drive Thru," a track celebrating Converse's 100 years of Chuck Taylors.
"Julian Casablancas and I collaborated on something with Santogold, so I'm talking to him about their next record," he said. "I want it bad!"
The Strokes are expected to begin recording late in 2008, and Williams hopes that, with his work with The Hives (a group similar in the style of music), Casablancas will take his desire seriously.
"Julian and I were in the studio together," he said. "I really wanna do it. I don't know [if Casablancas wants me], but I'd love to."
The Strokes will most likely begin writing songs once their guitarist, Albert Hammond, Jr., finishes supporting his sophomore solo album, Como Te Llamas, which will be released July 8.
