Matthew Perry Might Just End Up on Showtime
Showtime will commit to a pilot of "The End of Steve" starring Perry.
Matthew Perry and Peter Tolan (Rescue Me, The Larry Sanders Show) will be producing a pilot of The End of Steve for Showtime. Perry will not only star as Steve, but will cowrite and produce the pilot. The show is meant to be a dark comedy about the life of a local talk show host who wants validation and a bigger market. This will show a darker side of Perry that most do not know of, reported zap@it.com.
Unfortunately, although Showtime has committed to the pilot, the show might not get airtime because of a lack of space on the network for a comedy. The lineup is full with comedic shows, including Weeds, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and Californication, among others.
