Valderrama Stars in New Comedy Show on Fox
19-Jun-2008
Written by: Marie J. Pellegrino

Wilmer Valderrama will star in “The Emancipation of Ernesto” sitcom on Fox.

Fox will air an hour-long pilot of The Emancipation of Ernesto this year. The show surrounds an innocent man on a search to find his father through the over-indulged city of Los Angeles. Wilmer Valderrama, of That '70s Show, will be the star of the series. The writer, Emily Kapnek, had been nominated for Emmys with As Told by Ginger on Nickelodeon and ABC’s Emily’s Reasons Why Not. The Senior VP of Comedy at Fox, Susan Levison, believes her writing for the show to be fresh and unique, especially in tone.

Hour-long comedies have been gaining popularity on broadcast television. If Fox gives Ernesto the green light, then it will be the first hour-long comedy on the network since Ally McBeal, according to Reuters.
