Hybrid vehicles actually consume more energy than a Hummer H3
CNW Market Research put out a report last year that shows that the Toyota Prius actually consumes more energy than a Hummer H3, reported Your Week, a new show on PBS.
The study found that the energy consumed, that is the energy it takes to make, run and break down again is more for any hybrid than even a Hummer H2 which we’ve relegated to such thoughts that it is a very environmentally unsound vehicle. Unfortunately, the energy that you would save in a city such as New York or Los Angles is being offloaded onto the place where the hybrid was made.
Art Spinella, the president of CNW Market Research, told Your Week that the hybrids will become obsolete pretty quickly. Those hybrids that end up in the fast lane are actually using the a regular combustion engine and is not as good for energy use as it would be in the slow lane where it would be using battery, Spinella told Your Week.
