Dresses Fly Off Racks After Obama's Appearance on "The View"
Dresses were flying off the racks at White House/Black Market after Michelle Obama wore a Donna Ricco dress from the retail store on The View on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
After mentioning that she bought the $148 black and white sundress off the racks, "women literally were snatching (that dress) up," spokesperson Jessica Wells said.
This may be a new era for future first ladies in terms of fashion. President of the brand consultancy, the Tom Julian Group, Tom Julian predicted that Obama would bring big changes to political fashion, wearing both high and low end styles. "She will bring affordable American sportswear to the forefront, and this is very appealing to the Middle American woman voter," he said. "She's modern-a boomer, a woman of color with real shape." Julian also feels Obama may very well embrace black designers for a more "modern American fashion story."
