Biden Not Interested, But Would Accept V.P. Position

Biden not campaigning to be a running mate, but would take position if asked.

Joseph Biden, Senate chairman of the foreign relations committee, is publicly stating that despite the fact he is not interested in being the running mate for Democratic hopeful Barack Obama, he would accept the position of Vice President if he is ultimately asked by the party's presidential nominee, according to the Associated Press.

The 65-year-old Senator of Delaware is viewed as a strong candidate to be Obama's running mate due to his sterling reputation in regards to foreign policy, an area that is not viewed as a strong point for the Democratic presidential hopeful.

The Associated Press is reporting that Biden does not believe Obama will ask him to be his running mate as he has not lobbied for the position and has told the media of his disinterest in the position.

However, Biden expressed publicly how he feels he would be entitled to accept the position if Obama decides to ask him. Biden said, "Am I going to say to the first African-American candidate about to make history in the world that, 'No, I will not help you out like you want me to'? Of course I'll say yes."
