Officer Shot in the Head, Currently in Critical Condition
A police officer who has served in the Lehi Police Department for about 20 years was shot in the head during a traffic stop early this morning, according to the Seattle Post Intelligencer.
The woman who shot the officer was reportedly impaired as a gas station clerk notified the police about her erratic driving as a result of her impairment. She was pulled over south of Salt Lake City just minutes after the gas station clerk's phone call, according to the Seattle Post Intelligencer.
As the officer was speaking with the woman, she pulled out a revolver and struck the officer, whose identity is yet to publicly be released, in the left side of the head.
Two other officers of the Lehi Police Department then opened fire, shooting and killing the woman. The officer is currently in critical condition at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, according to the Seattle Post Intelligencer.
