Explosion in Baghdad Tuesday Kills Ten People, Four Americans
According to CNN, an attack in Baghdad has resulted in the explosion of a municipal building and ten people, four of them from the United States and the other six being Iraqi's, were killed. Two of the Americans killed in the attack were soldiers of our country and the other two were members of our nation's Embassy staff.
United States military spokesman Lt. Col. Steve Stover made a statement in response to the attack, citing who he believes were the specific targets of Tuesday's attack. Stover said, "We believe the target of the attack was a high-ranking [district advisory council] member as well as the U.S. soldiers."
Troops of the U.S. military, according to CNN, have detained a suspect who attempted to flee the scene of the attack and has tested positive for explosive residue. The suspect was captured while he was attempting to escape the scene of the building's explosion.
One more United States soldier was wounded as a result of the explosion, as well as three other United States council members.
