McCain Continues to Focus on Energy Efficiency Tuesday
Earlier today, Republican presidential nominee John McCain made a speech in California where he appeared alongside California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to speak about energy efficiency and conservation.
The Republican candidate, according to CNN, discussed his proposal about how he would like to see the U.S. Government purchase a larger quantity of environmentally friendly vehicles.
McCain told those in attendance at the Santa Barbara speech, "From now on, we're going to make those civilian vehicles flex-fuel capable, plug-in hybrid or cars fueled by clean natural gas. If our great goal is to move American transportation toward lower carbon emissions, then it should start with the federal fleet."
CNN is reporting that another underlying message contained in McCain's speech was his proposal that would increase the efficiency of federal offices; a move that he believes would save taxpayers billions of dollars as a result of lowered energy costs.
