Specific role not identified, but spokeswoman emphasizes party unity.
Jen Psaki, a spokesperson for Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama, announced earlier today that former President Bill Clinton is going to be involved in a major role for Obama’s campaign in the upcoming general election in November, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The announcement comes despite the fact that the Democratic presidential nominee and Clinton have not met with each other since Obama officially won the Democratic primaries after Hillary Clinton conceded from the race.
Psaki did not clarify the specific role that Clinton will play in a statement given to a Bloomberg reporter, but she did manage to say, “A unified Democratic Party is going to be a powerful force for change this year, and we're confident President Clinton will play a big role in that.”
Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton are scheduled to make two appearances together later this week, with the first stop being in Washington in front of a majority of Clinton’s top fundraisers. The second appearance is slated to take place on Friday in New Hampshire.
