Polls Show People Favor McCain over Obama in Handling of Iraq
The Associated Press and Yahoo News have conducted a poll asking people which presidential nominee they trust more in regards to handling the situation in Iraq. By a margin of 39 percent to 33 percent, Republican presidential candidate John McCain leads the poll over Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
In a separate question from the poll, the results indicated that a majority of the respondents believe that the War in Iraq should have never begun in the first place, but they trust the Republican nominee to handle the current situation more efficiently than Obama.
Registered Democrat Ann Burkes provided a statement to the Associated Press about McCain, saying, "He's more experienced militarily. And I don't know if I agree with stay-the-course (policy), but I think the good probably outweighs the bad with him, experience-wise."
It appears national security is not going to be the most important issue in the upcoming general election, rather it is expected to be the currently high energy prices as well as the state of the economy, according to the Associated Press.
