Rodman pleaded “no contest” to spousal abuse.
Former NBA All-Star Dennis Rodman was sentenced to three years probation, one year of counseling and 45 days of community service Tuesday after pleading “no contest” to spousal abuse, the New York Daily News reports.
The Los Angeles city attorney’s office said that they decided to drop two other counts against Rodman after striking a plea deal.
Rodman, 47, was arrested on April 30 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City, CA after a confrontation with his girlfriend, Gina Peterson. He was later released on $50,000 bail.
The judge warned Rodman Tuesday to refrain from using force or intimidating Peterson in the future.
The April arrest was not Rodman’s first run-in with law enforcement -- the five-time NBA champion is well-known for less-than-stellar on and off-court behavior. In November 1999, Rodman was arrested and charged with assaulting then-wife Carmen Electra. In 2001, a Las Vegas craps dealer accused him of repeatedly rubbing dice on the dealer’s body, including his genitals. Rodman settled the matter out of court.
Rodman’s required community service will consist of either work for the California Department of Transportation or a community service organization in Florida where he lives.
