James King Acquitted in Blake Fielder-Civil Assault Case
James King, a former pub manager charged with taking a bribe to drop assault charges against Blake Fielder-Civil, was acquitted Wednesday, reported the Associated Press.
Fielder-Civil, husband of soul singer Amy Winehouse, admitted to assaulting King in a bathroom fight then offering him $400,000 not to go public about the altercation.
Reportedly, King stated he was intimidated into withdrawing the assault claim.
After a three-hour deliberation, a British jury found King not guilty of attempting to pervert the course of Justice, which in U.S. judiciary terms is equal to obstruction of justice.
Fielder-Civil, along with three other men who also pleaded guilty to involvement, face jail time when their sentences will be handed down next month.
Fielder-Civil has been in police custody since November 2007.
