Obama Appeals to Internet Fundraising Base with Car Magnet
Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has announced he is adding an incentive to Internet voters willing to donate to his upcoming general election campaign.
According to the Associated Press, Obama is promising to send out a car magnet to Internet donors who send a minimum fundraising total of $15 before next Monday.
This announcement comes hours after Obama raised over $5 million at a celebrity fundraising gala in Los Angeles on Tuesday for his campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
Obama's campaign promoted its new giveaway in an e-mail that reads, "Make a donation of $15 or more by the end of the month and show your support with a 'Yes We Can' car magnet that's not available anywhere else."
The Associated Press is reporting that the fundraising efforts last night in Los Angeles illustrated Obama's effort to receive strictly private fundraising money.
His opponent, Republican presidential nominee John McCain, will be accepting public money for his campaign.
