James Gandolfini Auctions "Sopranos" Costume Wardrobe for Charity

The Sopranos star's wardrobe sells for much more than anticipated.

The Sopranos star James Gandolfini auctioned his personal costume wardrobe in 25 lots at Christie's pop culture auction Wednesday. All proceeds will benefit Wounded Warrior, a charity that aids severely injured U.S. service men and women.

Christie's is a leading art business and a fine arts auction house dating back to 1766.

According to Reuters, Gandolfini's costume wardrobe sold for $187,750--four times the amount the auction house forecasted.

Gandolfini, who was present at the auction, witnessed Tony Soprano's bloody outfit from when Uncle Junior shot him in a fit of dementia, and the signature white tank top, blue striped boxer shorts, striped short robe and leather cuffs sell for far more than anticipated.

Also auctioned were costumes worn by other cast members of the hit HBO series including Junior Soprano, Paulie Walnuts and A. J. Soprano.

The Sopranos, a drama about a New Jersey Mob family, ran for six seasons from 1999-2007 and is noted for having won more Emmys than any other show on cable television.
