24’s Upcoming Season Will Indeed Have 24 Episodes
25-Jun-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

In an interview, Robert Carlyle said the show would only air 22 episodes.

In an interview with Premiere.com, Scottish actor Robert Carlyle said that the 24 prequel movie would count towards the show’s time.

“This is two hours in real time,” Carlyle said, “and there’ll then be 22 episodes.”

After some investigating, TVGuide.com contacted Fox, and questioned if this is indeed true. The results were good news for fans of Jack Bauer and company.

The network said that Day 7 (aka season 7) will be in the typical 24 hour real-time format, with the TV-movie being entirely separate from the show’s episodes.

Carlyle also said that the final moments of the movie will lead into the first episode of the seventh season. This is also incorrect. The prequel will start four years after the end of Day 6, which means Jack Bauer is in 2017. And then a few months will pass between the end of the movie and the first episode (which will have Jack in front of Congress).
