Emmy Semifinalists Have Been Announced

Eonline.com reports, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has recently announced the list of semifinalists for the best comedy and best drama series categories for this year's Emmys. They have placed old favorites as well as new series on the lists, but some very popular shows did not make the list, including Heroes and Desperate Housewives.

Among the semifinalists for the best comedy series award are Entourage, The Office, Weeds, Ugly Betty, and Family Guy. If Family Guy wins the award, it will be the first animated show to win the award for best comedy. Some of the semifinalists for best drama series include House, Dexter, Mad Men, Lost, and The Tudors.

The nominees in each category will be decided by a "blue ribbon panel" balloting, which will account for 50 percent and the other 50 percent will come from the people of the full TV Academy. The official list of nominees will be released July 17 and the show will air on September 21.
