Filardi to Write and Make a Korean Comedy
27-Jun-2008
Written by: Marie J. Pellegrino
Jason Filardi will make a movie about a Korean wedding.
Inspired by real events, his cousin’s wedding, Jason Filardi pitched a comedic movie to Lionsgate surrounding a Korean wedding for a non-Korean American and a Korean woman.
He will pen the script along with his cousin, Iain McConnell, the cousin whose wedding is the basis. It will be produced by Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Doug Davison and Miky Lee and Ted Kim of Korea’s CJ Entertainment. Lionsgate did not affirm if the deal had been met and closed.
The movie follows an American man teaching English as a second language who falls in love with a beautiful Korean woman. When he proposes she says yes on two conditions: that her family must approve and they have a traditional Korean wedding in Korea. So the groom and his family are in Korea so he can marry his true love.
This movie would be and will be the first to have an American concept that will be produced in Korea, unlike The Grudge, and The Ring, among others.
