Spider-Man 4’s Targeted Release Set for 2011
27-Jun-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril
The dates are strictly preliminary.
Peter Parker and company will return to the big screen, but not for nearly three years.
Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin said that the fourth installment in the series will indeed be made, but won’t be released until (this is tentative, of course) May 2011.
Ziskin said this during a conference with theater owners from California and Nevada, and she also added that because there is no script, she and Sony Pictures are hopeful that Spider-Man 4 could be made in four years.
The first three films, as most know, have made Spider-Man one of the most popular movie franchises in the history of film. Their estimated gross has been $2.5 billion, if one factors in international revenue as well.
While a film was announced, neither director Sam Raimi nor Tobey Maguire have signed on for the fourth installment, but Sony has paid Marvel for the rights.
