Poll Shows Obama Maintaining Lead in Four Battleground States

Democratic nominee enjoying double-digit lead in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Polls conducted by Quinnipiac University show that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is maintaining his current lead in four important battleground states that will be major factors in the upcoming general election.

Obama holds a substantial advantage in Minnesota and Wisconsin, where he currently is enjoying double-digit percentage leads in support over his opponent, Republican presidential hopeful John McCain.

In Minnesota, Obama currently has a 17 point percentage lead with 54 percent of support in comparison to only 37 percent of support for the Republican nominee, according to the Post-Bulletin.

The Democratic presidential candidate's lead in Wisconsin is also quite comfortable, where Obama has 52 percent of the state's support in comparison to McCain's 39 percent, which gives the Democratic nominee a 13 percentage point advantage.

Though Obama's leads in two other important battleground states, Colorado and Michigan, are only at five and six percent, respectively, it is an encouraging sign for the Democrat that he is leading in four crucial states in the upcoming general election.
