Whip It Cast Set for Production
The female stars of "Whip It" are ready to shoot.
Drew Barrymore will make her directorial debut with Whip It, a roller derby comedy produced by Mandate Pictures. Barrymore will also star in the movie as a derby teammate to Bliss, played by Ellen Page. The rest of the cast includes Juliette Lewis, Kristen Wiig, Marcia Gay Harden, and Zoe Bell. The film will begin shooting in Michigan and Texas this summer.
The story: Bliss loves her skates, though her mother, an ex-beauty queen (Harden), wants her to be in pageants instead. Bliss ignores her mother and continues to skate with Malice in Wonderland (Wiig) as her mentor. Dinah Might (Lewis) is the star of Austin's derby team and Bloody Holly (Bell), a medical technician, steps in as a derby star, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
