Actor Josh Hartnett will star in a version of Rain Man being brought to the London theatre.

According to the BBC, actor Josh Hartnett will star in a version of the film, Rain Man, being brought to the stage in London.

Harnett, best known for his roles in The Faculty and Pearl Harbor, will play the role of Charlie Babbitt, played by Tom Cruise in the 1988 film.

Hartnett stated, "It has always been my intent to work on the London stage."

Hartnett added that he knew it was the right time to tread the boards when he read the "complex and charismatic character" of Charlie Babbitt.

The play will open in September at the Apollo Theatre and will also star British actor Adam Godley as Raymond, a man with autism and Babbitt’s brother. Dustin Hoffman earned an Academy Award for best actor through his portrayal of Raymond.

Dan Gordon wrote the stage version and David Grindley will direct.
