Meg Ryan: There Is No Upside to Fame
2-Jul-2008
Written by: Jonathan Drew Turner

“You’ve Got Mail” star laments being a recognizable and well loved icon.

Meg Ryan, the photogenic bombshell who distinguished herself as a romantic lead in When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle, hates being famous.

"I would say there's no real upside to fame," she hypothesized. "There's money, but that doesn't necessarily come along with fame."

But, of course, in her case, it did.

She went on to add, "People always say that they can get dinner reservations, but come on, you could always figure out some other way to get dinner reservations."

True. Of course, there's a difference between getting a reservation at TGI Friday's and getting one at Spago.

I'm sure once she goes home and dries her tears with a couple of her husband's Ally McBeal royalty checks, fame won't seem like such a cross to bear.
