Baby Returned to His Parents After Being Auctioned on EBay

Parents claim the act was merely a joke taken entirely too seriously.

CNN is reporting that the baby boy who was put up for auction back on May 24 on eBay has been returned home to his parents. The baby boy had been living in a facility where his parents had constant contact with him as an ongoing investigation was being conducted.

The eBay page that advertised the baby was for sale disturbingly read, "Offering my nearly new baby for sale, as it has gotten too loud. It is a male baby, nearly 28 inches long and can be used either in a baby carrier or a stroller."

Otto Gaschler, the deputy chief of youth services in the area that the parents live, gave a statement explaining how the parents were inexplicably na?ve to believe that such an incident would not be taken seriously, regardless of whether or not they claimed it was a joke.

The identities of the boy's parents, a 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, have not been provided to the media in order to avoid specific humiliation and scrutiny.
