New Citizens in Florida Persuaded to Vote for Obama or McCain
3-Jul-2008
Written by: Steve Ruback

Approximately 5,000 new citizens in Florida greeted by supporters of presidential candidates.

CNN is reporting that about 5,000 new citizens, many of whom are Hispanic, were sworn-in earlier today at Miami Beach. Supporters of presidential nominees John McCain and Barack Obama were awaiting their arrival on a street corner near the location of their swearing-in ceremony in response to their newfound citizenship.

The new citizens were first congratulated by a large group of supporters representing both presidential candidates. They were then given voter registration forms and persuaded by each group about which presidential nominee would be the most ideal candidate in the general election.

The Cuban-American community has traditionally voted for the Republican nominee in the elections, according to CNN. However, there appears to be a changing view amongst the community due to Obama’s policy in regards to Cuba that would enable Cuban-Americans to return home to visit their families more often.

The Hispanic-American vote is expected to be very crucial in deciding which candidate will ultimately win the upcoming general election.
