Child abuser receives monumental prison sentence, probably will not live long enough to be set free.
James Kevin Pope, a 43-year-old convicted for committing sexual assault against three different teenage girls over a 20 month time span, has been sentenced to 4,060 years in jail, which is the equivalent of 40 life prison terms.
The three victims testified against Pope during the trial, giving graphic details of the specific acts that occurred over the 20 month period they were abused.
Sexually incriminating photos were submitted as evidence, and the pictures correlated with the stories the teenagers provided in court.
The District Attorney of Parker County, Don Schnebly, provided a statement in response to the sentencing.
"This sentence sends a strong message that the citizens of Parker County will not tolerate these types of sex crimes,” Schnebly said.
The most encouraging outcome of the sentencing process for Pope is that he is actually eligible for parole, according to the Dallas Morning News.
However, he is not eligible for parole until the year 2309.
