Eminem Sued for Assault and Battery
4-Jul-2008
Written by: Angela Flournoy

A man accuses the rapper of punching him 2 years ago.

Miad Jarbou, of Royal Oak, MI, filed a lawsuit Thursday against Eminem claiming the hip-hop artist sucker punched him in 2006 at a Detroit strip club, Detroit News reports.

The lawsuit filed in Oakland Circuit Court charges the rapper in assault and battery. Jarbou claimed that Eminem entered the restroom at Cheetah's On the Strip Gentlemen's Club on July 13, 2006 with a large man, presumably his bodyguard, and one of Jarbou’s friends attempted to speak to the rapper.

Jarbou said that Eminem’s bodyguard told the man, “Shut the (expletive) up, man! Don't say another word,” Detroit News reports.

When Jarbou stepped in to defend his friend, Eminem allegedly “drove his fist in a violent punching manner” into Jarbou's face. Then both Eminem and his bodyguard left the bathroom.

According to the Detroit News, Jarbou is claiming to have “undergone physical pain and suffering, emotional distress, ongoing serious injuries requiring medical treatment,” as well as “embarrassment, humiliation, medical expenses, wage loss and other economic and non-economic” repercussions since the incident.

He is seeking over $25,000 in damages. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, was not charged for assault or battery at the time of the alleged incident.

In 2000, Eminem was charged with pistol-whipping a man who allegedly kissed his wife, Kim, outside a Warren, MI bar. Eminem plead guilty to carrying a concealed weapon in association with the incident and was sentenced to two year’s probation in 2001.
