Rapper/Actor Mos Def Wife to Write Tell-All Book
6-Jul-2008

Whatever happen to keeping secrets personal? Well, as the future approaches and the past has left, women who experience the entertainment world in a private moment seem to feel that they need to let the whole world know, by writing their very own tell-all book. From Video-Vixen to now, Canadian model Alana Wyatt-Smith, 29, a former stripper, is getting in on the action with her tell-all book entitled Breaking the Code of Silence. According to BET.com, Mrs. Wyatt-Smith, former wife of Rapper Mos Def, will be debuting her tell-all book, which references her childhood, her marriage to Mos Def, and of course, encounters she’s had with many celebrities and athletes. Unfortunately, just like many other tell-all queens, she claims she’s keeping all names to herself, but there will be many details.
According to TheStar.com, Wyatt-Smith stated, “I disagree with putting names of people in there, just out of respect for their wives and children,” she said in an interview. “If this was about making money, getting rich, I could have wrote a tell-all book, 10 times better than Karrine Steffans. . . . I use nicknames, initials, that myself and the gentleman would know; the ones named I got permission from.”
Wyatt-Smith and Mos Def, whose real name is Dante Smith, eloped on August 17, 2005. By October 2006, she was filing for a divorce, because of a dispute the couple had, which quickly turned abusive. “I don’t believe that his intent was to hurt me . . .” Wyatt-Smith said. “But I had shared and cried with him many nights about my past (abusive) situation and I asked of him not to do that, because it brings back memories.”
There is no official police documentation about her claim of their abusive marriage. Although the couple hasn’t been together since late 2006, the two aren’t officially divorced, due to the fact that she says, “He won’t sign the papers.”
