Nate Dogg Charged with Stalking
8-Jul-2008
Written by: Angela Flournoy

The hip-hop singer faces felony charges for allegedly stalking his wife.

Singer Nate Dogg was charged Monday with two criminal threat charges and one count of stalking in association with an arrest made by California Highway Patrol last month, AP News reports.

The hip-hop artist, whose real name is Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, was arrested after his estranged wife claimed he threatened her and chased her as she drove her car down the 405 freeway, just south of Los Angeles.

The 38-year-old entertainer is also being charged with driving with a license that was suspended from a previous drunken driving violation.

District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Jane Robison said the criminal threat charges are a result of several emails Nate Dogg allegedly sent his wife, the Los Angeles Daily Breeze reports.

"Unfortunately he's had a tough year and we look forward to getting him through it," Mark Geragos, Nate Dogg’s attorney, told the AP.

Nate Dogg suffered a mild stroke that partially paralyzed the left side of his body last December, but doctors expected him to make a full recovery. An original member of the group, 213, he has worked with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Mos Def and 50 Cent.
