Victor Willis, a former lead singer of the Village People, is recovering in a San Diego hospital from an operation to remove nodules from his vocal cords.
Victor Willis, the 57-year-old former lead singer of the Village People, is currently in the hospital recovering from vocal cord surgery, the BBC reports.
Willis, who was the original policeman of the Village People, had surgery at a hospital in San Diego, CA, on Monday, to remove nodules from his vocal cords. His publicist said that Willis would be postponing his tour, but would reschedule the dates.
Willis, who cowrote the lyrics to hit songs such as “YMCA” and “Macho Man,” left the group in 1980. He refused records deals and requests to perform any of his hits with the Village People.
Willis began performing again in 2007 with his Victor Willis Dance Tour. After several performances, he developed hoarseness and was forced to cancel European and Canadian concert dates this year.
