No More Interviews for Obama Daughters

The presidential candidate says the decision to have them interviewed by Access Hollywood will not happen again.

Just a day after the first installment aired of an Access Hollywood interview of Barack Obama's two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, the presumptive presidential candidate expressed remorse that he allowed it to happen.

Though the interview, in which Obama and his wife Michelle also participated, focused on trivialities like his choice of bubble gum and Malia's friends, Obama seemed uncomfortable by the attention the girls' first (and possibly last) interview was drawing.

"I think that we got carried away in the moment," the Illinois senator and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee told Today's Matt Lauer, Wednesday. "We were having a birthday party, and everybody was laughing. And suddenly this thing cropped up. I didn't catch it quickly enough. I was surprised by the attention it received."

The interview will air on television in installments, but is available in full on the Access Hollywood Web site. The reaction has been positive for the campaign, which has taken pains to ensure the young children stayed out of the spotlight.
