Britney Spears' Mom Battles Bad Press

Britney Spears' mom, Lynne Spears claims the media has been way too harsh in their criticism of daughter Britney's nasty habits like walking barefoot into public bathrooms and smoking in public.

"I really feel the need to clarify some of the media's negative onslaught of press that has been everywhere lately," Lynne wrote on the pop star's official Web site.

Following some less-than-flattering pictures of Britney, wearing a purple thong pulled at least four inches above her skirt, a white shirt and gripping a cigarette, Lynne says media attention to her daughter's behavior and clothing is wholly unnecessary and elaborated.

"I've come across numerous photos where they are trying to depict Britney as, in their words, 'trashy.' They are using various photos (sic) to try to illustrate their point." said Lynne Spears.

Ever the celebrity Mom, Lynne apparently doesn't mind if Britney forgoes hygiene for comfort, so long as the doctor's orders are kept in mind.

"As for her walking barefoot, the Doctor's orders are for her to wear Uggs or tennis shoes and it's just too hot for that. Sometimes it just feels good to go barefoot in this heat and give her feet a rest," said Lynne.

But, what would the Doctor prescribe for chain smoking and going barefoot in public restrooms? Really, a Pop Princess should always wear glass slippers.
