President Bush Makes Economy and War Predictions Based on Nothing
According to the Tribune's Washington Bureau, President George W. Bush held a press conference in the White House earlier today. Some of the most important topics that were addressed during the speech included our nation's ongoing battles in Iraq and Afghanistan, the current state of its economy and whether or not it will begin to improve anytime soon.
Despite providing no evidence that would justify his prediction, Bush responded to questions about whether or not the economy would turn around in the immediate future by mentioning that he is optimistic it will and that he believes the economy is currently growing.
The most shocking section of the press conference was when the President analyzed the current state of our military affairs in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the Tribune's Washington Bureau, Bush told the media that he believes the war is currently going better in Afghanistan than it is in Iraq.
However, recent statistics show that the President's statement is entirely off base. The number of casualties of American soldiers in Afghanistan exceeds the number of casualties of our troops in Iraq in recent weeks.
