Young couple utilized an identity-theft scheme to fund much of their relationship.
According to CNN, a young couple that has been referred to by a federal prosecutor as the poster children for identity fraud, 22-year-old Jocelyn Kirsch and her boyfriend, 25-year-old Edward Anderton, have pleaded guilty to six federal counts including aggravated identity theft, money laundering and bank fraud.
Louis Lappen, an Assistant United States Attorney, gave a statement that summarized the couple’s astonishing actions, saying, "She and Edward Anderton stole the identities from numerous people from all walks of their lives, from coworkers to neighbors, anyone that they encountered."
Prosecutors involved in the case expect that Kirsch and Anderton will receive six years of prison time each for their actions. The couple had no realistic option other than to plead guilty due to the fact that digital photographs indicating their lavish lifestyles were discovered on both of their laptops and used as evidence.
Kirsch admitted through her guilty plea that she and her boyfriend utilized a comprehensive identity-fraud scheme to fund various aspects of their relationship such as vacations, expensive dinners and her pricey visits to the hair salon.
