16-Jul-2008
Written by: Justin Zaremba

A musical written by Ray Davies, formerly of the Kinks, is to be staged at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in London.

Ray Davies, one of the stars from the rock band, the Kinks, has written a musical that is to be staged at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in east London, the BBC reports.

The production will be named Come Dancing, after a hit song which was written and performed by the Kinks 25 years ago.

A spokeswoman for the Theatre Royal Stratford East said the show will open on September 13 and is scheduled to run for six weeks; however, it has not been decided whether Davies will appear in the show.

The musical, which will include over 20 songs by Davies, will be set in the 1950s around the Ilford Palais ballroom.
