Passing Drug Test, 50 Cent Can Go on Vacation
Rapper 50 Cent, who once did jail time for selling crack, is drug-free these days. The AP reports that, having requested permission in a Long Island courtroom Thursday to take his son, Marquise, on a vacation next month, the drug test the court ordered came back clean.
"I haven't seen my son in a while. That's why I came here today," the rapper said after he passed the test. The boy's legal guardian, who had requested the test, described her surprise at the results as "a little bit of a bomb."
Marquise's mother, Shaniqua Tompkins, objected to the vacation, however, saying it would interfere with the boy's basketball camp. The rapper has accused her of preventing him from seeing his son, charges she has denied. No details have been released as to where the father-son pair might go.
Tompkins lives with Marquise, and made the news earlier this year for accusing 50 Cent of arson when their house burned down. The rapper filed a $20 million defamation charge against her and the situation has yet to be resolved.
In a corresponding drug test Thursday, Tompkins tested positive for opiates. She blamed it on codeine-laced cough syrup she'd been taking.
