Agreement Between Spears and Federline Reached
20-Jul-2008
Written by: Marshall Burns

A custody agreement between Kevin Federline and Britney Spears has been reached, for visiting rights with their two children.

Britney Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, have come to an agreement that gives the pop star overnight visits with their two children, reported the BBC. This agreement was found with lawyers and a Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner in a closed-door session.

Spears’s attorney, Laura Wasser, told the BBC that she would have more time with her two young sons. Federline is to continue to keep full custody of the children, but Spears will hopefully have gotten nights by the end of the year.

Neither of the parents were at the hearing when the agreement was met. Since the agreement was met, this means the trial scheduled for next month is not to take place. Wasser told the Associated Press that Spears has been granted three visits a week from Sean Preston and Jayden James, plus two overnight visits. Wasser told the BBC, “The fact is, it’s a win for the family.”

Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline’s lawyer, said he was pleased with the agreement as well. “This has been a long ordeal and to have that over is something that makes him extremely happy,” he told the BBC.

Spears lost custody of her children last year and her visiting rights in January of this year when Federline was granted full custody. The formal agreement is still to be fully approved. Jamie Spears, Britney’s father, was given control of her assets after she was admitted to a psychiatric ward. Wasser told the BBC that the agreement that has been reached is a sign of the pop singer's ongoing recovery: “The difference from the beginning of the year to now is astonishing,” she told the BBC.
