“Batman” Star Gets Bullied

Christian Bale was bullied for getting big roles.

Although being in a high-profile movie keeps most people on Cloud 9 for several weeks, Christian Bale, who played Batman in the sequel, The Dark Knight, was less than ecstatic. Because of his Hollywood success when he was just 13, he became a constant target for school bullies. He became a sensation almost immediately after starring in the 1987 movie, Empire of the Sun, but did not receive the kind of attention that he expected.

After a string of commercials, Bale starred in the 1987 movie, Empire of the Sun, when he was just 13, and became an overnight sensation. “It was not a great time. I was a victim of bullying and had other kids kicking and punching me every day,” Bale said, according to ShowBiz Spy. Instead of having numerous fans and admirers because of the fame, his classmates lashed out and eventually turned against him. He says, “It was an early lesson in how making a film can set you apart. If you don't want to live with the consequences then don't make the film.” Perhaps living the life of the rich and famous isn’t as glamorous as it seems. . . .
