American Idol Voice

Jordin Sparks is helping in a campaign for school supplies.

American Idol singer Jordin Sparks is using her powerful voice for more important matters than a duet with Chris Brown. Now, she is using her fame to join with DoSomething.org and Staples Inc. in helping teens and children get the basic supplies they need for the education they deserve. The national school supplies drive is entitled "Do Something 101" and urges teens to donate school supplies to any Staples across the country by August 31. The items brought in will be donated to children in need through Hanscom Air Force Base Youth Center and 10 Boys and Girls Club locations.

Due to Jordin's belief in the importance of education, she has been starring in a public service announcement that has aired on MySpace, Facebook, TV and even the radio. "I'm very excited to be involved with the Do Something 101 campaign and to help motivate teens to get involved," Sparks said, according to News Courier. "There are so many kids in America who need school supplies and don't have them, and all somebody has to do is donate. It's so easy."

Staples is donating $50,000 worth of school supplies, but Jordin hopes to get as many people as possible to participate in the campaign.
