Headdress Headache for Keira Knightley

Knightley’s wig was far too heavy.
Actress Keira Knightley’s wig for the upcoming film, The Duchess, was so massive that she required a special headrest, WENN reports.
So as not to literally break one’s neck for the sake of a movie, the film crew created a resting post for the star, to avoid strain on her lean shoulders. Knightley plays an aristocrat in the film depicting life in the 18th century, so naturally her costume was elaborate, to say the least.
Explains costar Hayley Atwell: “She had to wear this huge wig that was so heavy they made her a board that she could lean her shoulders and head against in between takes so she didn't topple over or get neck aches.”
But Knightley apparently took it all in stride. “I loved filming The Duchess,” Atwell also raves. “Keira has a great sense of humor.”
