Doctors clear Patrick Swayze for work on new show, “The Beast.”
Patrick Swayze has been given the green light to work on the new A&E series, The Beast. Swayze, who announced in March that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, was cleared by doctors and is apparently fit to begin filming the new show, reported the Hollywood Reporter.
Swayze, 55, was diagnosed with cancer in January and since then, has undergone regular Cyberknife radiotherapy. According to the Sun, Swayze was seen leaving a hospital in poor health in March, however, he has apparently been responding very well to the treatment and is now ready to resume work.
The actor was seen in high spirits at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday as he got ready to board a flight to Chicago, where he will begin working on The Beast, reported E! Online. When photographers asked Swayze about his health, he said “I’m cookin’. I’m a miracle, dude. I don’t know why.”
Many know Patrick Swayze for his performances in Ghost, Donnie Darko and, most famously, Dirty Dancing. According to the Hollywood Reporter, The Beast will follow Swayze, who plays an unconventional FBI vet, as he trains a new agent, played by Travis Fimmel, in his unorthodox yet clever style. “I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multilayered, unpredictable and downright entertaining as well as a project this current and cutting-edged,” said Swayze.
