Future of “Office” Spin-Off Remains Uncertain

Amy Poehler will not be starring in an “Office” spin-off this fall, leaving questions about when, if ever, the show will be created.
NBC executives have announced that Amy Poehler will not be starring in an Office spin-off and that the future of the rumored spin-off is unclear, BuddyTV reports.
Although Poehler, who was rumored to be taking on a lead role in the popular show’s spin-off, will not have a feature role on the program, NBC executives reveal that she has been offered a role on another new NBC show—one with a similar style and tone to The Office. Poehler’s show will be worked on by original Office creator Greg Daniels and will feature some of the same writers and producers who have put their stamp on The Office, but the actress’s new show is a standalone comedy and is in no way related to the other NBC hit.
Poehler’s recent pregnancy announcement may be a problem for the scheduling of her new program, which as a result, now appears to be premiering sometime after mid-season. Though she plans to continue working on Saturday Night Live for the first half of the season, it is likely that she will have limited screen time as she waits to give birth.
Although the odds of seeing an Office spin-off next season now seem unlikely, NBC executives have suggested that the possibility of the show’s creation sometime in the future, has not been entirely ruled out.
