Kid Rock on Probation Following Waffle House Brawl
Kid Rock was sentenced to six hours of anger management counseling and twelve months probation, resulting from a post-gig brawl that took place at a restaurant near Atlanta last year, reported Reuters.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the fight broke out at a Buford Highway Waffle House after a show at the Tabernacle. Rock, surrounded by his entourage and fellow band members, got into a heated argument with Harlem DeJon Akins. The argument soon turned into a brawl and subsequently shifted to the outside parking lot.
Rock, whose real name is Robert J. Ritchie, pleaded no contest to a single count of battery at the DeKalb County State Court on Monday. The rock star was also sentenced to 80 hours of community service, while facing a $1,000 fine. Several of his entourage and band members also faced fines, as well as community service sentences.
In March, Ritchie met fans at a Waffle House in Gwinnett County to raise money for Nicholas House, an organization supporting homeless families, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Georgia fund-raiser was a success, making more than $12,000. "I came back to do something nice for Atlanta," said Ritchie. "I just wanted to give something back. I've always loved Atlanta."
