Kid Rock Sentenced for Waffle House Fight

Rock was sentenced to community service and probation after an altercation turned physical.
Kid Rock has been sentenced to a year of probation after his involvement in a fight at an Atlanta Waffle House, MTV reports.
Kid Rock, also known as Robert Ritchie, was sentenced to a year of probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine after a physical altercation at a Waffle House Restaurant. In addition to the money and probation time, Rock will also be taking part in eighty hours of community service and six hours of anger management counseling.
The incident took place early in the morning last October. After a concert at the Atlanta Tabernacle, a woman traveling with Rock reportedly got into a verbal altercation with a 39-year-old male. The argument escalated in the restaurant’s parking lot, and Rock and five members of his entourage became physical with the man. After the man, Harlen Akins, allegedly broke one of the restaurant’s windows, Rock and his group left on their tour bus. They were eventually stopped by police and arrested on misdemeanor battery charges.
Rock pleaded no contest to one charge of simple battery, and four other charges were dropped. Rock’s guitarist, Jason E. Krause, and group member, James W. Murphy, also plead no contest and were served sentences comparable to Rock’s sentence. Charges against the other men involved in the altercation were dropped. Though Rock’s attorney, Darryl Cohen, claims that Rock did not think that the brawl was his fault, and “came within a hairbreadth of going to trial,” he reveals that when given the results, Kid Rock was “not terribly unhappy.”
