New "X-Files" Is a "Scary One"

Thomas F. Ford IV and Frank Spotnitz discuss the new film.

The visual effects producer on the new X-Files film is none other than Thomas F. Ford IV.

Ford, whose resume includes work on Cast Away, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Stuart Little and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, is in charge of special effects for The X-Files: I Want to Believe, reported the Ledger-Enquirer.

According to Ford, I Want to Believe is apparently not for the faint of heart, saying, "It's scary. It's a scary one." And if there's anyone we can believe, it's him.

The extraterrestrial mystery movie appears to be going the same route as Star Trek, as it adopts a fresh perspective for its series-adapted feature. The new Star Trek movie, with still about a year to go before its release, will apparently place greater emphasis and focus on character relationships, such as that of Kirk and Spock.

The movie "is more about them (FBI duo Fox Mulder and Dana Scully) and their relationship," co-writer and co-producer Frank Spotnitz said. Spotnitz also praised Ford for his work on the project, reported the Ledger-Enquirer, something that special effects fans should appreciate. "Tom is a joy to work with," he said. "He had an enormous task. The number of visual effects shots just mushroomed. He had to work on a huge volume in such a short time."

Little else was disclosed regarding the film and its cast. However, the plot is said to deviate from the show's typical government conspiracy angle, whatever that means.
