Lucy Liu to Duel Samuel L. Jackson in "Afro Samurai: Resurrection"
The prospect of portraying an evil warrior mastermind may appear to be a challenge to most individuals; then again, they are not Lucy Liu.
The 39-year-old actress has had plenty of experience playing elite fighters, having starred in both Charlie's Angels films along with Kung Fu Panda. According to Yahoo News.com, her latest role will see her playing Sio, a seductive fighter in the animated show, Afro Samurai: Resurrection, which stars Samuel L. Jackson as the titular warrior. It is a two-hour sequel to the original Afro Samurai that premieres on Spike TV.
Liu's character, Sio, is a vicious warrior who seeks to destroy the main protagonist. In designing this character, executive producer Leo Chu knew that Liu would be perfect for the role.
According to Yahoo News.com, Chu never dreamed that Liu would agree to the part, but felt that his team "owed it to themselves to at least ask her."
Based on Liu's experience and acting credentials, it appears that he made the right choice.
